How to get to Berlin by plane or train

Berlin has two major airports: Tegel International Airport in Berlin’s north-west is the main airport for flag carriers and hub for domestic flights as well. All flag carrier flights arrive and leave from the main terminal building A. Buses from Tegel Airport operate to S+U Alexanderplatz, Hauptbahnhof and S+U Zoologischer Garten. Please mind that the Tegel Railway Station (S-Bahn) refers to the remote suburban village of Tegel and is not connected to the airport! Tegel Airport has no railway station.

Schönefeld International Airport is the former East Berlin airport and base for most low-cost airlines. Its location is south-east of the city center. The airport is served by the S-Bahn and regional trains. The S-Bahn line S9 takes you directly to major stations in central Berlin. Less regular but faster trains stop at these major stations too.

Most European airlines and a significant number of international airlines have direct connections to Berlin Tegel and/or Schönefeld Airport from their respective hubs.

Berlin is also served by ICE, InterCity and EuroCity trains by the Deutsche Bahn (DB) which offers convenient connections between Berlin and other German and major European cities.
