Dear Colleagues and Friends

On behalf of the Organising Committee and the members of the scientific board, we would like to invite you to the «Euro Heart Imaging Basel 2009» which will be held from October 22–23, 2009 in Basel, Switzerland. This is the sixth meeting of its type organised in Basel and it is aimed for specialists involved in cardiac imaging, cardiologists, radiologists, nuclear cardiology specialists, electrophysiologists, interventionalists and cardiologists/radiologists in training. The main focus of this special meeting is clinical decision making with integrated use of the different cardiovascular imaging modalities. This covers ultrasound techniques, cardiac magnetic resonance, nuclear cardiology, computed tomography and conventional x-ray angiography. International opinion leaders and specialists of the different imaging modalities will be brought together to discuss the application of cardiovascular imaging in a scientific, evidence based manner for clinical decision making. In times of ubiquitous availability of excellent but also expensive imaging methods on one side and the continuously growing budgetary constraints on the other side, this meeting is aimed to play an important role for the understanding of the different imaging techniques and consequently the scientifically based, cost effective use for clinical decision making.
During focus sessions a specific clinical problem is debated. Following an introductory state of the art lecture on basic pathophysiologic or technical principles, the evidence of the most important imaging modalities used today for investigations of that specific problem will be presented. Based on a clinical case presentation, these imaging modalities will then be discussed by the panel and interactively with the audience. With the concluding remarks the discussion will be summarised and reached consensus will be presented.
During the sessions “Challenges for Cardiac Imagers” the most interesting cases of the last few months will be presented and discussed by an international panel of opinion leaders in different imaging techniques and interactively by the audience.
This meeting will give you the latest update of cardiac imaging and its use in daily practice for clinical decision making.
