The official currency is the Swiss franc (CHF). Although not part of the EU many prices are nonetheless indicated in Euros and some merchants may accept Euros. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are widely accepted and ATMs are widespread. Banks offer the best exchange rates for traveller cheques and foreign currency, but it is also possible to exchange money at major hotels, main train stations and airports. Banks are open Monday to Friday.


A cloakroom is available next to the rooms A, B and C at the Palexpo.
Please note that a fee of CHF 3.00 per item will be charged.

EBMT stand

Throughout the meeting EBMT staff will be available at the EBMT stand (No. 301) to answer any questions you may have or to deal with any matters concerning the EBMT Society.


The EBMT 2012 exhibition presenting the latest technical equipment and pharmaceutical products will take place in hall 1 of the Palexpo Geneva.

Hotel Accommodation

Congrex Travel Ltd., the official EBMT Travel agency is present with a desk in the registration area during the meeting. For assistance on-site, please contact the “Hotel” counter at the secretariat in hall 1.


The meeting organizers cannot accept liability for personal injuries sustained, or for loss or damage of property belonging to meeting participants or their accompanying persons, either during, or as a result of the meeting. Please check the validity of your own insurance.

Invitation Letters

Individuals requiring an official letter of invitation in order to attend the
meeting may write to the Organizing Secretariat (ebmt@congrex.com). This procedure is designed to assist participants to obtain a visa or permission to attend the meeting and does not apply to registration fees or other expenses.
Please note that invitation letters can only be sent if the registration and payment has been received by the Organizing Secretariat.

The official congress language is English.
Simultaneous translation (English/French/German) will be provided for the Patient & Family Day. Also during the Nurses Education Day simultaneous translation (Frensch only) will be provided.


On Monday and Tuesday, lunch will be served in the exhibition area of
the congress venue.
On Wednesday, a farewell lunch will be offered in the foyer following to
the final plenary and the closing session.

Speakers’ Service Centre (SSC)

The Speakers’ Service centre is centrally located in Office 0 at the Palexpo.
Please refer to the “plan and location” on page 236 to see where it is located.

All speakers will be asked to hand in their PowerPoint presentations at least one hour prior to their lecture at the SSC.


Service charges are generally included; however, it is customary to round up the amount when paying in restaurants and taxis.

Transportation in Geneva

Geneva is well catered for by buses, trams and ferries as well as regular train connections to the train stations “Cornavin” in the city centre and “Aéroport” at the airport.

The EBMT 2012 meeting will take place at the Palexpo Geneva which is conveniently located in walking distance to the Geneva Airport and only 20 minutes away from downtown Geneva.

Visa Requirements

In order to visit Switzerland you may need to apply for an entry visa. Please check the current VISA requirements with the nearest Swiss Consulate or Embassy in your country before your departure to Geneva. Please also be well aware of the time for processing the applications to ensure you apply in time for your visit!
