Call for Papers
The Scientific Committee welcomes the submission of abstracts of original contributions to the Seventeeth Meeting of the ENS.

Guidelines for preparation and submission of abstracts

  1. Abstracts may only be submitted via internet. Abstracts submitted by fax or email will not be accepted.
  2. All abstracts must be submitted and presented in English. Please use UK English spelling and have your abstract proofread for grammar and understanding.
  3. Abstracts should contain only original material not published elsewhere prior to 16 June 2007.
  4. Please structure your abstract using the following headings:
    • Objectives
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusion
  5. All abbreviations must be defined the first time they appear in your text. Example: Ataxia telangiectasia (AT), before being used as an abbreviation only.
  6. Avoid complex mathematical formulae. For the symbols ≤ or ≥, type instead <= or >=. For superscript use caret (^) e.g. 10^6 instead of 106. Avoid Greek letters and symbols. Instead of "IFN-γ" use for example "IFN-g" or "IFN-gamma".
  7. Tables, charts or other graphics may not be included and will be deleted by the editors.
  8. Abstracts may not be longer than 2500 characters including spaces (excluding title and authors)
  9. Authors should indicate their presentation preference:
    • poster presentation only
    • oral or poster presentation
    The Programme Committee reserves the right to decide on the final allocation and presentation method.
  10. After having submitted your abstract, you will receive a confirmation by e-mail with your abstract reference number and personal address code and password. If you do not receive a confirmation by e-mail please contact the Abstract Hotline. (check your email address!). Should you wish to make corrections to an abstract already submitted or if you wish to submit other abstracts later, you may use your personal access codes.
    Corrections to abstracts can only be made up to the deadline of 7 February 2007.
  11. If an abstract is accepted, one author must attend the congress and present it in person. If a presenting author withdraws an abstract after 30 March 2007, or does not attend the session for which he or she has been scheduled, a penalty may incur prohibiting the author from presenting papers at the ENS meetings for a period of 3 years. Those subject to this penalty will be informed in writing.
  12. If your research has been granted any commercial or institutional support, you will be asked to disclose this during the submission process.

Notification
Authors will be notified of acceptance at the end of March 2007 by email.

Publication
Accepted abstracts will be published in the JOURNAL OF NEUROLOGY which will be available at the meeting.

Oral presentations are allotted 10 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for discussion. Please use Powerpoint for your programme presentation.

Posters will remain on display for one half day and require the author's presence for 90 minutes in the poster session.

Guided Poster Walks
Due to their success last year, guided Poster Walks will once again take place during the poster sessions. Moderators will present and promote discussion of posters with the authors and interested participants.

Travel Grant

The European Neurological Society will support young scientists (born on or after 1 January 1972) who wish to attend the Seventeeth ENS Meeting in Rhodes, with a travel grant. Scientists with an excellent abstract accepted for presentation at the meeting will be considered for a travel grant. This is separate and independent of the application for the "Young Neurologists' Package".
