Welcome Note

Dear Colleagues and ENS Members,

On behalf of the Local Organising Committee, it is my privilege and great pleasure to cordially invite you to participate in the 22nd Meeting of the European Neurological Society. The meeting will take place in Prague, the heart of Europe, from 9 to 12 June 2012.

It is the aim of the organisers to provide participants with an outstanding programme, balancing scientific excellence with high-quality clinical practice.
The ENS Meetings have long been an ideal venue for continuing education in all branches of neurology, from teaching courses to workshops, and foster the exchange of new research between academic neurologists and neuroscientists in the symposia, satellite symposia and free communications, which cover a wide spectrum of topics in neurology and related fields.

Prague, with a history spanning eleven centuries, is magnificently situated on the Vltava River and boasts many splendid sights including the picturesque Charles Bridge, the Old Town Hall and Astronomical Clock and the old Jewish Quarter with its synagogues and cemetery. Prague’s history also includes the founding of one of the oldest universities in Europe in 1348 by Charles IV, Czech King and Roman Emperor, and a great supporter of science and education. Among many others, distinguished personalities in neuroscience such as Jan Evangelista Purkyneˇ and Arnold Pick carried out their research at Charles University.

Together with the ENS Administrative Office at Congrex Switzerland, we trust that this will be an exciting and memorable event, both scientifically and socially, and we look forward very much to welcoming you to Prague in June 2012.

Prof. Evžen Růžička
Chairperson of the 22nd ENS Meeting
