Switzerland, officially called the Swiss Confederation, is situated in the heart of Western Europe, where it is bordered by Germany to the north, France to the west, Italy to the south, and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east.

The Swiss Confederation has a long history of neutrality and did not join the United Nations until 2002. Switzerland is home to many international organisations, including the second largest UN office, the Red Cross, the World Trade Organisation, the International Labour Organisation and sports federations such as the International Olympic Committee and FIFA.

With its expansive greenery, beautiful cities and buckets of fresh air, Switzerland is a famous tourist destination offering countless outdoor adventures and contemporary urban breaks. However beyond skiing and hiking, lies a complex country of cohabiting different cultures. Switzerland is perfectly matching cultural variety, expresses through its four different languages (Swiss German, French, Italian and Romansch).
