CITY TOUR DAVOS

The history of Davos and its surroundings began with the arrival of the Walser People in the 13th century. Some 700 years later, Davos has developed into an international sports, health, holiday and congress resort with all the ambience and amenities of a small city while surrounded by an idyllic natural world. This interesting guided walk gives you an insight into the transformation from a farming community to Europe’s highest altitude resort. The tour includes Davos’ historic cultural buildings, famous sightseeing attractions and historic sites.

HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGE

Relax and take a horse-drawn carriage to the beautiful side-valley Sertig-Tal of Davos. Enjoy a snack and admire the surrounding nature before riding back to Davos.

HIKING FUN

The landscape around Davos and its beautiful meadows, woods, pastures and, above all, mountains is home to 450 km of sign-posted and well-maintained hiking trails. We will access the Schatzalp by funicular in 4 minutes from Davos Platz. The Schatzalp offers spectacular views of Davos. A 45-minute hike will take us back to the valley, giving us the opportunity to further enjoy the Davos landscape.

KIRCHNER MUSEUM

The Kirchner Museum Davos offers the visitor the extraordinary chance to look at works of the expressionist artist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in the same place they were created. Davos and its environment were the artist’s inspiration for a large number of important paintings and prints. In 1992 the Kirchner Foundation was able to acquire a large collection of the artist’s work and, since then, the collection has been enlarged considerably. The collection includes over 1,400 drawings, graphic works, textiles and paintings, sculptures and sketchbooks. A guided tour gives you an insight into these major works of art as you step into their world for a few memorable moments.

**CHUR – CULTURE & SHOPPING

You travel by coach from Davos to Chur, the oldest city on this side of the Alps. The oldest city in Switzerland and important episcopal centre has many a story to tell. Centuries of history have shaped and left their mark on this place of transit. Immerse yourself in the past and experience Chur in a variety of ways. After a guided city tour you will enjoy lunch at the romantic hotel Stern. Afterwards you have time to shop!

AUTUMN WALK

After a short ride with the cable car, we will have a refreshing break at the restaurant Höhenweg and enjoy the amazing views over Davos. The team of the restaurant Höhenweg is ready to ensure you have a good time on the sun terrace or in the cozy mountain restaurant. Enjoy your coffee/snack at the altitude of 2,200 metres.

**SWEET DREAMS

Wednesday, 5 October 2011, 13.40h – approx. 16.00h

CHF 65.00 per person (including chocolate making, guided tour, coffee and cake)

For many years now, the Confiserie Schneider is producing own products such as truffes and pralinés. The traditional recipes are creatively adapted from year to year. The chief confiseur will let you look over his shoulder, when he is making chocolate dreams and other home-made specialities. An event that will make you happy anyway, your endorphines will jump and cheer! But that‘s not enough, after the tour through the factory you can try the home-made nut cake at the café or on the sunny terrace.

Tours are based on a minimum of 25 participants (see exceptions below: * and **). If a tour does not take place due to insufficient numbers, the ticket will be reimbursed in full. Otherwise please note that tickets for excursions are non-refundable. On-site requests for tours are welcome but cannot be guaranteed.
