Welcome to WSF Sleep and Health in Istanbul

Dear colleagues and friends,

On behalf of the World Sleep Federation (WSF) and the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS), it is our pleasure to invite you to the 7th Quadrennial Congress of the WSF "Sleep and Health" which will beheld in Istanbul, Turkey, from the 31st October to the 3rd November, 2015.

The World Sleep Federation (WSF) is an international scientific non-profit organization bringing together a huge community of researchers and clinicians working in the field of sleep physiology and sleep medicine. The WSF is currently comprised of seven Charter members (American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Asian Sleep Research Society, Australasian Sleep Association, Canadian Sleep Society, European Sleep Research Society, Federation of Latin American Sleep Societies, and Sleep Research Society) representing about 53 sleep societies and organizations, and over 12,000 individual members.

This 7th WSF congress will be hosted by the ESRS, an international scientific nonprofit organization whose aim is to promote all aspects of sleep research and sleep medicine and related areas, including diagnosis and care for patients with sleep disorders and the dissemination of information regarding basic and clinical research in the sleep domain.

“Sleep and Health” will be the motto of the 7th WSF congress, emphasizing the utmost importance and impact of sleep in our everyday life. In this meeting, we will offer to our attendees the possibility to learn the state of the art and the latest developments in the field of sleep research and sleep medicine. Moreover, it will give wide opportunities to exchange ideas and create networks with colleagues from different parts of the world.

Istanbul has been an imperial capital for Roman, Byzantium and Ottoman Empires and now constitutes the cosmopolitan heart of Turkey, its financial center and most populous city with approximately 12 million of inhabitants. Its long and prosperous historical background is reflected in the beauty of its archaeological monuments, churches, great mosques, palaces and museums.  Istanbul has an historical center surrounded by three different seas and it is the only city in the world built on two continents. The contrasts between the Mediterranean and Asiatic culture, the old and modern, the lively and vibrant local culture of taverns and tea gardens, mixed with the colors and flavors of the bazaars render the visit to the town a magic experience.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to Istanbul in 2015 for a successful WSF topical meeting "Sleep and Health". Join us and enjoy!

Yours sincerely
